Many collectors wooden clocks have components and ornamentation that is missing it's gilded surface due to age, wear, environmental conditions and over zealous cleanings. This 2 part 2 day course, will provide students with theory, demonstration, and hands on practicing in the following areas; experiencing the complete water gilding and oil gilding processes, including gessoing, picking and applying Bole or clay, handling gold leaf, sealing the surface and patina. Oil gilding, students will gold leaf a metal object. Mercury or Bronze Dore will also be discussed. Lab fee will include a book of gold and basic tools to take home.
