New Jersey Chapter 25 ZOOM Meeting Sunday, January 17, 2021 10:00 AM EST

Coming Sunday, January 17: Appraising Watches & Clocks – maybe even appraising yours!

NAWCC NJ Chapter 25 – Jan. 17, 2021 Zoom Meeting

Happy Holiday’s to All and Happy New Year to all members and friends of NAWCC NJ Chapter 25.

Our next SPECIAL Virtual Zoom Chapter Meeting will be on January 17, 2021 from 10 am – 12 Noon EST (7 AM PST, 8 AM MST, 9 AM CST).

We hope you will all agree that this Zoom Meeting is going to be a SPECIAL one, because Past Pres. Yair Segev has arranged for David Sperling, an expert Clock and Watch Appraiser to speak about such appraisals and to conduct some appraisal discussions of clocks or watches that you bring to and show during his presentation. See David’s credentials at About Us: David Sperling, Clock Appraiser - Bernards Appraisal .

The Meeting Agenda is as follows:

1. Opening remarks by George Hart, President of NAWCC NJ Chapter 25 and introduction of David Sperling.
2. David will speak on 1) what it means to be an appraiser and 2) how he goes about doing an appraisal of a clock, pocket watch or wristwatch.
3. David will conduct a discussion of clocks and watches that members show at the meeting to be appraised, and if that member has also provided in advance some general or specific information about the item ahead of time, then he will talk about that item, its history and how it has fared in the current marketplace.
4. David will conduct an open discussion of any timepiece that anyone brings to the meeting to show or even just to ask questions about horological valuations.

While this Meeting has been planned to be a Special one, it doesn’t depend solely on David’s expertise. We as members should plan ahead and send in a photo, information and questions about a timepiece you would like appraised or discussed as to its value. Please email me at jhoustehjr67@gmail.com with your advance photos & info.

Also, David wanted us to know that his presentation will not include any discussion about parts or repairs of timepieces, as he doesn’t have experience with such horological topics.

David has been doing this type of appraisal work since 2006 and has authored articles in the NAWCC Bulletin. He is also an appraiser with the websites valuemystuff.com and mearto.com . He is also co-owner of About Us | Antique American Clocks | Father and Son | 201-213-1483. In preparation for the Meeting, please visit these websites.

We also hope that Chapter 25 Members will invite their friends, who an interest in Horology and other chapter members.
Once again, Past President Yair Segev is graciously providing his online Zoom account to host the meeting, and the login info is:
