This class explores the mystery and fascination of the cuckoo clock and teaches the skills needed in their repair. We will learn to disassemble the movement, diagnose and repair faults, reassemble, adjust and recase the movement. We will also discuss and learn to use movement replacements in post war clocks and analyze and adjust the music feature found on many modern cuckoos. We will also take a brief look at the antique cuckoo clock. Other discussion items will include bellows replacement and recovering, animations, and rack and snail striking control. This class is designed to help the working horologist master and profit from the repair of these perennially popular clocks.
