Using a Jeweler's Lathe II WS-435
Participant will learn how to make different watch parts by using the jewelers lathe. Proper preparation and sharpening of cutting tools will also be demonstrated. The participant must have prior experience with a jewelers lathe to be successful in this class.

The following areas will be covered:

  • Lathe Safety
  • Types of cutting tools used on the lathe
  • Preparing, shaping and sharpening your cutting tools 
  • Advanced parts making consisting of: Staffs, Stems, Jewel Settings, Screws, Repivoting

Tools Needed:

  • Selection of eye loupes 10x, 4x (required)
  • Tweezers 3 or 3C (required)
  • Parts tray w/ cover (required)
  • Pin vice to hold 1/8 square graver (required)
  • Needle/Escapement files (required)
  • Sapphire file or burnisher (required)
  • Pithwood (optional)
  • Rodico (optional)
