This two day workshop is an introduction to the use of the micro lathe. The participants will learn the basic skills and techniques involved in the use of the micro lathe.This is a hands on workshop open to all interested individuals. Although the class will focus on horological techniques other subjects will be covered as well. Machining procedures covered in this course are the same as used by manufacturers to manufacture watch and clock parts. All materials, supplies and machinery will be provided.

  • Modern lathe characteristics
  • Machinable metals
  • Use of measuring tools
  • Setting up lathe tools
  • Turning
  • Boring and drilling
  • Screw cutting
  • Repivoting
