Introduction To Basic Time and Strike

Introduction To Basic Time and Strike
This course covers the eight-day, time and strike clock movement with open mainsprings, typically found in “American Kitchen” clocks. The course will concentrate on the fundamental repair procedures needed in this course and for other Field Suitcase Workshops courses. The student will learn and gain confidence with the following repair procedures: Movement and mainspring cleaning; hand and machine bushing, pinion and wheel repair; pivot and arbor straightening; pivot polishing; time and strike train trouble shooting; recoil escapements theory and adjustments.

IMPORTANT: The student should note that only one type of clock movement can be used in this class. The clock movement that the student should bring is a time and strike open mainspring movement sometimes referred to as an American Kitchen Clock Movement. No other clock movement will be permitted in this class, so please concur with this request. If there are questions about the movement for this class the Coordinator or instructor should be called.
