In September 2019, the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Chronometrie and the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, Inc. jointly held an international symposium in Nuremberg, Germany. This event, “Time – Made in Germany: 700 Years of German Horology,” was the NAWCC’s 2019 Ward Francillon Time Symposium and also the first such collaboration between these two respected groups.
This book is the written record of the lectures presented at the Symposium. It covers topics such as the earliest monumental astronomical clocks in Central Europe, clocks from Nuremberg and Augsburg in the 16th and 17th centuries, the cottage clock industry in the Black Forest region, the development of atomic clocks, and many others.
“Time – Made in Germany” is for anyone interested in the history of timekeeping in German-speaking countries.
