NAWCC Chapter 171 - Madison

President: Leroy Baker
Secretary: Dale Beske

General Information for New and Prospective Members:

The Madison Association of Watch and Clock Collectors was formed in 1994. In April 1996 we became Chapter 171 of the NAWCC. We presently have a membership of approximately 30 and usually have about 20 people at each meeting. We meet at the UW Health West Clinic on the first Wednesday of the even-numbered months. Official meeting time is 7 pm, but members begin arriving about 6:30. Mart activities and general discussions tend to push the beginning of the formal meeting back to more about 7:30 most nights.

The August meeting is a picnic, often at another location. The date of any given meeting may be subject to change, due to meeting room conflicts.

The UW Health West Clinic is located at 451 Junction Road, Madison, WI 53717, just off the West Beltline Highway between Mineral Point Road and Old Sauk Road. Our normal meeting room is room 1287.

We have set dues for the club at $10 a year, to cover the cost of mailings and room rental. A letter is sent to each paid member about 7-10 days before each meeting. We have an admission donation of $2 for each meeting. To encourage persons to bring Mart or display items, the donation is reduced to $1 for those who bring an item for display or sale to the meeting. Our meetings will typically consist of a short business meeting, followed by a short program. The program will typically be given by one of the members, and may be a show-and-tell of pieces from a member's collection or may be a demonstration of a repair technique or some other topic of general horological interest. Persons bringing an item(s) for display are encouraged to offer a short description of the item(s). We also have a 'mart' at the meetings. At the mart, clocks and watches and parts may be bought, sold or traded. We have been averaging about 5 dealer/collectors at each meeting. Mart tables are free. Guests are welcome. Contact the secretary at as we occasionally need to reschedule meeting times or locations.
